Sometimes people say that I have a chip on my shoulder. I quickly set the record straight: I don't have a chip on my shoulder; that's a potato. I didn't plant it; my childhood and early adult experiences did that. Constantly having to protect myself against criticisms and false accusations of being haughty while left in isolation watered it. Dealing with those who claimed that I thought that I was better than they but who were actually unwittingly envious of my inner strength and potential to only become greater fertilize it. But this potato has a purpose -advocate for those who are too weak to advocate for themselves; to encourage them to own their power as I own mine and make their tomorrow better than their today; to encourage others to see passed their hurt, losses, failures, etc. and take hold of the hope that God provides. The fact is that I know who I am, I love me, and God continually reminds me that He loves me too -- potato and all.
