Saturday, February 22, 2020, I attend Cumberland County Citizens United, Inc. monthly meeting. It was a very informative meeting as it relates to the candidates' views. I appreciated being invited and heard. I enjoyed responding to the question concerning bail: If the law says to explain why secured bond is ordered then I want to see that explanation especially considering that any defendant is faced with losing his job, his apartment, his car and everything else that he or his family has worked for if that defendant cannot afford the bond and NOTHING suggests that the person could not have been released on his promise to come to court, released to another person, or had an unsecured bond. N.C. Gen Stat Article 15(a)-534a.
